Time is now

Well, it was a period of rush, like “I have no time to sleep and eat”, but I’m back here to write what changed since I decided to report here my struggles towards the Independent Side of life.

Yesterday I quit my current job and it feels.. wonderful and scary – to be honest.
But I feel I have the power somewhere inside me to go on my own and do what I envision I can do. Maybe this feeling is still too deep to come out but the CONSCIOUSNESS is the first step and it keeps me going.

So, from the start.
Couple of days ago I went through a tough period of my confidence dropping to nearly zero and a state where everything seemed without sense. I had a good, serious and long talk with a person I treasure and it shifted my thoughts enough to make the decision:

if not now, then when?

You now, when you suddenly start to think out of the box, come up with ideas 90% of people think are a bit crazy and “irresponsible”, I find the feeling very similar to being a bit drunk. You still have the control over the things you do, but you don’t matter what will come next. What I’m trying to say is.. you leave behind the fear of NOT TAKING ACTION. You just do it.
I read recently a book written by Ruth Ozeki, where I found a very appealing statement, that you may always hide into “your own, frozen glacier, where nobody bothers you, but still, you may observe the surroundings.”
And thats the feeling. I made a decision. No work for others, no meeting the expectations of others. I create my own way of living and I decide what are my expectations. Fullstop!

Today Saturday morning is fresh. Much more refreshing that any other. Time to start the new chapter. Hope you guys are out there to observe and see how it unfolds:)

I’ll come back soon to update!

Be proud

It’s always a truly precious feeling to witness that your hard work actually matters. You don’t get that feeling while you enter your brand new car or put on that glam dress brought yesterday.
As far as I’m concerned it’s something more.
“Thanks for the drawing, it’s stunning.”
“I buy it. This logo design sticks to my brand. No questions.”
” I didn’t know all these details about those flowers out in my garden, glad for your advice”.
It is really awarding. These are only words. But powerful enough to make you keep going, like nothing else.

To be honest, it is not only about designing things people find appealing. I find the process of solving their particular problem much more fascinating. What truly turns me on is hearing and observing that I managed to make my creative work a piece of design that actually works.

Whether you talk about logo, print design or creating for web, it all comes to one point.
Your new business card, website, corporate identity, illustration, poster, or whatever else, name it. You love it, it makes you feel good. And people around are supposed to see it and appreceate or.. envy:)

I believe it’s worth seeking these moments when people thank you for whatever you did. The more these things you discover, the richer person inside you become.

Time to go back to work. The results are awarding enough:)

What drives me crazy?

Human vegetation. Doing things repeatedly. No aim.
All these things are present in a majority of the Jones’s lives. They do what the surroundings want them or oblige them to do. They live to meet somebody’s but not their own expectations. Work, television, sleep. Oh, maybe some nice dinner with the family from time to time.
Asked about their work, they say work as work, good to have it done. And that’s how it goes all over again 5 days per week, sometimes even longer.

We have one life. Too precious to make it a bunch of boring, aimless mornings and evenings 365 times per year.

Yes, I guess that’s what makes me frustrated. And it motivates me to live different.

What it’s all about

To begin with, this blog was created as a personal experiment to find out where it will take me after some time. The aim of writing here, I believe, is just trying to describe my journey towards my own, independent lifestyle.

I’m a graphic designer who recently graduated. Helping people through good design inspires me. Creating things people admire fuels me. I love to be close to nature where I find harmony and everlasting piece. I do not imagine life without good cuisine, flowers and dogs.
